Sniffer question 1

Whats others in sniffer or other porgrams similar to sniffer?

I use Wireshark (used to be called Ethereal). There is also tcpdump and Kismet, but I have used neither.

When you look at the IP connections, it shows "OTHERS" and there are connections that come from it, i am not sure what it is.

There are so many type of network sniffers you'll have your choice. What type of OS are we talking about? That will help in determining what type of sniffer will work for you.

As far as your comment about "others", I'm with Lawnboy. Provide which program and OS you are using, and whether you have wireless, wired, or modem going....

Sounds like he's doing "ipconfig /all" and seeing other connections, or in the sniffer other interfaces with activity. Of course, I now realize that my stab in the dark does nothing...

Sorry guys
WHat i was asking was when you run the program called sniffer.
when i monitor the traffic, i see others, and others seem to be other protocols besides the one specifyed.
