Dear all,

We currently use Backup exec 8.5 to backup our data. This is installed on a Windows 2000 server.

I use retrospect to backup all MAC data (including fonts) that resides on our snap server. This is purely for the reason that if I used backup exec 8.5 to backup and then tried restoring, the likelihood would be lost resource forks and damaged files.

Is there any way at all that I can use my windows server with backup exec on to backup these mac files without losing the resource forks?

If so it would make my life sooooo much easier.

Thanks in advance for any help.

only way you would be able to do this is if you used the remote agent.
As you can't put a remote agent on a SNAP server, there is not much you can do.

Could you create an iSCSI share on the snap server (I beleive you'd have to wipe out what you have to create the iSCSI) download the free iSCSI initiator from microsoft, mount the iSCSI on the windows server and share it out via appletalk? Wouldn't you then be able to back it up from the windows server and retain all of the resource fork info?
