The SMTP services were working fine for weeks and a few days ago it just stopped.
I tested the MX records and had no problems resolving domain names through the DNS server.
The messages get stuck in the queue. I tried restarting the SMTP service, restarting the SMTP virtual server, even disabling the virtual server and recreating a new one. Nothing is working.
The only changes to the server recently have been the last two security updates from MS which involved a reboot.
The only thing the SMTP service is for is to allow the owner of my company to send his personal e-mail. His ISP only allows mail to originate from his personal IP address. Otherwise all other messages go through our various web host's SMTP servers.
So I have had to resort to establishing a VPN connection to my win2k server at home and dropping the messeages into the pickup folder on my server at home to send them.
