Client has an IPOffice 8.1 with embedded voicemail. They were using voicemail to email intergration until recently whend they had in issue with the internet service provider(also their email host). Now the email host company will only give me their server name instead of the ip address of the server. They said they changed some things and won't give that out anymore. I informed them that I needed that for the client's feature to work and they are adamant on not providing anymore info. Needless to say the client is moving on to another email hosting company but is there anyway workaround that I can try to get it to work in the meantime? I can ping the smtp server name and it comes up with the old ip address that was being used but the voicemail to email isn't working still.
Thank you.

Ping resolves to the same address everything else does, so if it's the old address that's still what they're using, if it isn't working the name is wrong or they are just bluffing :)

From a windows computer.

Open a command prompt.
Enter the command "nslookup"
Enter the command "set type=mx"
enter the customer's domain name, ie: custdomain.com

This will resolve to their current email address.

For those less CLI savvy you can go toe mxtoolbox.com and enter the domain name. It will show all mail servers associated with that domain.

It may not be the IP address that is giving you issues, they may have changed the security requirements. The IPO won't do encryption so you may have to use a different SMTP server.

Try gmx.com.

I believe they did change some security requirements and are not being cooperative. I will try some of the ideas that were posted but the best thing is to find a different email server provider that wants to provide good service to their customers.

Thank you for the ideas.

what is the name of the provider and country ?

if it ain't broke don't fix it!
