Currently we have exchange 2003 installed and we are having problems with and external address on a website that sends an email to us for information ie info@123.com

Basically this address sits on the website info@123.com, when they click on this link it will send an email to our site and into the users mailbox - but it is being bounced backed by our ISP with error 5505.7.1.

They say it's our exchange server.

I have a user in AD with info@123.com in her smtp tab so the emails should go to her. I have sent emails from hotmail and they do not go anywhere !!!

I think it must be a connector or something, any Exchange guru's would be great for some desperate help.

Thank Steve

I am confused by your example. What is your domain name and where are you trying to send e-mails to from?

Does your hotmail account sent to your domain? Do you have a firewall...are the MX records pointing the the correct ip?

Do you have a relay server (spam)?

We have multiple domain names but they are not routing internally on exchange 2003 server.

Our main domain is fine but all other domain names which are routed by our ISP to us are being bounced back by our Exchange server.

I think it's to do with allowing the domain names on the exchange server but I do not know what is to be done or setup/configured.

Does this make more sense to you ?

Thanks Steve

I have managed to solve this thanks sundance for your quick response.

It would be 'nice' for others to know the fix, otherwise this thread is just wasting space here without the solution.

Marcs41 -

Sorry mate - I will do this from now on but I am a bit new to this so will post the reply below !!!

It is really simple when you know how.....

Open Exchange system Manager.
Go down to Recipients
Recipient Policies
Highlight default policy and right click and this will bring up "email address policy"

add the smtp address that needs to come through to your work address.

ie = @tek-tips.com

Ok

That's it.

Hope this helps others on 2003 Exchange.

I assumed it was that part you missed. So, at least now the post is complete for others to use.

Thanks.
