SMS permissions not working for groups

I am currently in the process of creating an MMC console for our help desk that should only be allowed to view collections, and run remote tools.

The problem is that if an individual domain user is given security rights everything works fine. But if I assign rights to a local or global group, the collections are not viewable.

Any suggestions???
