Hi all,
I have installed system manager release 8.1. During installation the root password didnt appeared, i mean how a root password is set in system manager? During installation at one step it prompted me a user name and password and i set the user as admin. Now i tried the default user id and password (as mentioned in one thread) but not able to login. How can i login into SMGR using the root user?

During the SMGR 8 ova install via SDM, its the last option under configuration parameters. "customer root access".

Thanks for response. There is no other way beside SDM to set or get access to customer root access?? I have installed 8.1 OVA using a kickstart file USB.

There's always booting off a CentOS CD in recovery mode and chrooting to make the SMGR partition live and reset the root pw that way. That pretty much works on any Linux that doesn't have protected boot.

My favorite on Windows server is booting off the CD, go in recovery mode, mv osk.exe to osk.exe.old and cp cmd.exe to osk.exe
That way when you're on the login prompt in the GUI next time you click the on screen keyboard and get an admin prompt and can use "net user administrator" to reset your password :)
