SMB text only send eof setting will not hold

Running RH 6.5 server. Have two PC's with Windows 98 and an HP 1200 laserjet. Both printer's are set up SMB, text only. One printer does not have "Send eof" selected and prints only the pages of the job. The other always shows "Send eof" selected no matter how often I uncheck it and restart lpd, and it prints a blank page after every job. How can I gewt rid of this blank page and why won't "send eof" stay unchecked?

OK, I Googled and news grouped and Samba'd this issue for hours. Seems like a lot of people have this problem. I manually edited the printcap file and added :sf:\, didn't help, so I added :ff=:\, still didn't help. What worked in my environment, was to manually edit the textonly.cfg file in the var/spool/lpd/accnt directory (the one that says "created by printtool, do not manually edit") and change the sendeof from YES to NO. Printtool should change this setting, but it would not.
