I can't get the smart host to work. This is our current setup. We have a smtp/relay server in dmz, this has mail essentials/mail security installed. A exchange 5.5 on win2k server. Our smtp/relay receives mail and forwards onto exchange 5.5 and our exchange 5.5 forwards mail out to the relay server, all works fine no problems. I setup a test server with exchange 2003 on win2k server, I set this up as a new exchange server just to test, with some test mail boxes, while also running the exchange 5.5 on the same network. I can get the exchange 2003 to send and receive internal mail no problems, it will also send mail out to a test hotmail account no problem, but I want the outbound mail to go through to our smtp/relay but it isnt even though I got the ip in [] set in the smart host. I got a feeling this may be a dns problem? I know I haven't set any MX records up. I asume I could just copy the settings off exchange 5.5 and it will work.
Does anyone have any ideas?
