I want to try out Back office Small Businesss Server, and the only spare machine I have is a mangy 486 with 24mb RAM. SBS needs a minimum of 64mb RAM, and I cannot upgrade. Does anyone know a way round this, apart from setting it up on a different machine and transferring the HDD, so that setup thinks I have something different or doesnt even bother checking at all? Maybe long the lines of editing something in the boot disk?

It will probably be so slow that this would all have been a waste of time, but I'd like to have it working :-)

r u kidding? NT by itself will not even run (efficiently) on that not to mention loading SQL, Exchange, Proxy, and or any ot the other apps / services. The only thing you will be able to try out is discovering NT's limits....

NT Server by itself requires a MINIMUM of 32mb to install.
If u build an NT server with sufficient RAM, then reduce the amount NT refuses to start up so I'm afraid no way will you be able to do this..
