Have this bizarre problem that I can't find documented anywhere. The entire directory of JPG's where taken from a digital camera and where fine. However when I went to use them last week, the entire directory of jpg's was, marked system, hidden and read only. I have taken off these attributes so that it is a normal file but now there is a strange little clock like icon in the bottom left. I have uploaded a picture so that you can see what I'm talking about. There's no major problem really I just want to know what it does.

Many Thanks in advance

Alex

It almost sounds like a program was messing with your file system. Maybe a virus. I'd check to be sure that your virus protection is up-to-date. Are any other JPG files affected?

For the clock in your systray. The file would most likely be loaded from the registry or the start-up folder within the start menu. I'd look for anything unusual in those two locations. Then you can search for the file on your hard drive and see if you can figure out it's orgin. If not, remove it, it's just eating resources and could be undesirable in other ways.

Cheers, there is no virus and I think we've got our wires crossed somewhere. It's nothing to do with the system clock but an small icon that looks like a clock appears in the bottom left hand corner of the jpg icon. The link below is a picture of this for you to see:

Hi Alex

I realise this post is years old - but I've just come across a similar problem, except I have a whole bunch of office documents with this odd clock like icon overlaying the original icon. Also the file attribute has changed to an O.

I wonder if you ever did get to the bottom of this one?

Thanks

Clare

Hi Clare,

What a blast from the past this is, had totally forgotten about it to be honest.
Unfortunately I never did find a fix but just did a quick search now and someone is suggesting that the icon means that the file is waiting to be synchronized. Are offline folders on this particular folder?

Sorry I couldn't be of more help but hope this info helps out in some way.

Alex

Hi Alex

Thanks for your really quick response. Yes this is a file server and we do have offline folders configured. I was thinking along the lines that synchronisation was involved somewhere, but I couldn't find any information about it.

I guess I'll keep digging.

Cheers

Just had another quick look, this guy seems to think it's a "slow file" although I have never heard or can I find anything referencing this at all.

This support article references the clock exists which is a first!

This final one just referenced the O in the attributes section that you mentioned.

Hope this helps,

Alex
