Hi -
OS: NW 6.5 SP2
Backup Solution: Syncsort 2.1.5D

I have been having intermittent issues with my backup software finding the clustered volumes. When I do a
"display slp services smdr.novell" from each server, all but one come back with all of the volumes/servers. The DA comes back with only 8 (out of 28). Sometimes I have to fail a volume over to get it to "re-register" and then it will back up properly. SLP is running, and seems to be working, but this looks pretty odd.
Any ideas?

Not sure if this will help but Novell just released an SLP patch recently that addresses problems locating certain services. I believe it is SLP211a or something like that. JUst go to their patches and fixes and look for SLP.NLM and you will find it.

It also sounds like some of your services have not registered correctly in the first place.

Just an update on the SLP thing.. it appears we had a miconfiguration causing at least part of our issue.
SLP Discorvery was set to "2" (DHCP) on all of the servers.. We set it to 5 (static file & discovery) and reset SLP and now everyone sees everything.
I'm going to test with this change before I try anything else.
The DA is now showing the same smdr.novell resources on all servers.
Thanks - Joe
