I am using Win XP Home. A few times a day, I plug a USB flash drive into my computer for data transfer. When I first started doing this, a Windows Explorer window would quickly come up, which was a nice convenience. Now, it takes 10 or 15 seconds for the Windows Explorer window to come up. This delay is a definite inconvenience.

Is there a way I can get back to the quicker performance?

Hi,
Gee we get spoiled easily..It used to take longer than that for a computer monitor to warm up...

Anyway, does the drive have mixed contents ( text as well as graphics, etc) and is that different each time you plug it in...If so, determining the 'default' action could be the reason for the delay..

Some Anti Virus software have options (set preferences) to scan a flash drive every time it is inserted.
