I'm brand new to Premiere 6.5. I have a Pentium3 733mhz with 512mg ram, 100 gigs of free hard drive.
I'm editing AVI clips (AVIs were created in Ulead VideoStudio). In Premiere as I add new clips to my timeline and select 'preview' the program goes through a painfully slow (rendering?) process showing the frame count, then finally shows the complete edited clip. Is it normal for previews to take so long? In Ulead I can see previews instantly. I thought AP 6.5 showed previews instantly also. Am I doing something wrong to cause previews to take so long? Does this have anything to do with how the AVIs were created?
FYI, the only reason I'm trying out Premiere is so I can do fade in/out to black (using superimposition). As far as I know, fade to black is not possible in Ulead (if anyone knows how, please let me know).
Thanks.
