I am running windows2000 server SP4 on a Dell Laptop with a 1.8Ghz processor and 512MB RAM
The system performance is quite slow and I am looking for any ideas about the cause of this problem and a way to fix it.
An example of the problem follows: Browsing through the start menu takes one or two seconds to bring up submenus and requires around 20% of the cpu power.
A simple cell copy in excel takes 3 - 5 seconds and requires 100% cpu power.
Any task seems to take a very high % of cpu power. When viewing CPU usage history in windows task manager, any activity causes 100% cpu power then the system drops down to 3 - 7%
Memory usage is around 200MB
Any ideas are appreciated.
Let me know if you need more information.
Thanks
