slow NFS client on OSX

Hi,

When I NFS mount any PC (SFU) or Unix share from OSX (tested with 10.3.7, 10.3.8, 10.4)- I get a good read (to OSX) performance (7MB/s) and bad write (from OSX) performance (500KB/s).
Any changes with OSX+UNIX ports (HALF/FULL/DUPLEX/AUTO) did not help at all.Tried different switches,etc.
Looks like a pure OSX client issue.
Did anybody experience anything familiar and have any advise ?
