Got an issue that just started on Monday. Seems to affect everyone regardless on OS (W2K sp4 or XP sp1 and sp2). Office 2000sp3 or Office 2003sp1 installed locally. All docs and spreadsheets are stored on 2003 server (the FSMO DC). I have no Group policies in effect.
When you first try to open a document or a spreadsheet, it can take ~20 seconds for it to open, even if it's a very small file. Also it can take quite a while for the open file dialog to appear.
After that, any file opens pretty much instantly. Even if you close the application, then go back into it, any file opens extremely quick.
If I close the office application, come back in an hour or so, same problem.
We are running WINS and of course DNS. I don't see anything in the event logs of the server or the client. I can ping by name or IP without errors. I don't see errors in the event logs of our switches.
The only things we changed last Wed afternoon was an upgrade to ScriptLogic. I've spoken with their T/S and they haven't heard of this issue. Since all SL does is to map drives, assign printers, etc. Once the log on scripts run, it's pretty much out of the way.
And I created OUs for each dept and moved the computers from the default 'Computers' OU to their respective department OU's. As I said above, I have no GPO's linked or created to them. The only GPO is the default domain one that I've never touched.
Please, Any suggestions?
Thanks!
