I have a Cisco Pix 506E that I am using for approx. 40 VPN client connections. All but 2 of them work great. The 2 I'm having problems with experience the same problem of slow name resolution which times out their connection to the Exchange server and to SQL servers through Enterprise Manager. I am using a HOSTS file with ALL clients and they have the Exchange server and SQL servers listed. On these 2 machines, if I ping the server by IP, it comes back quickly, but if I ping using the name, it takes a long time for it to come back (although it does eventually resolve the name to an IP). All of the other machines resolve the name to IP quickly. The 2 machines are acting like they aren't checking the HOSTS file for some reason. By the way, these 2 machines can see network resources and access them, it's just that time sensitive applications like Outlook require a quicker turn around. Anybody see this before?
