Slow login performance

I know why our login is slow after logging in (ie between entering user ID and password, then choosing a company), but I can't explain why it takes 15 seconds just to get to the login window (Dyn 7.0 on sql server 2000). We have extremely fast citrix servers (6) and a kick as sql server. Since the client isn't at the point of contacting the server before the login screen, what could possibly explain why it is so slow?

Have a look at the number of third party products installed. Prior to login, many third party products register triggers and this takes time. To see the number of triggers registered go to Tools >> Customise >> Customisation Status and Print the report to the screen.

Also, are all the dictionaries in the same folder as the actual application? You don't want network access to just read the Dexterity Dictionaries.

Are you using Citrix NFuse in your servers? We have 8 Citrix servers and apps are open in Nfuse. Certain apps like GP eEnterprise took 30-50 seconds to open but got some good advice in Citrix website. Here's a link that might help:

I have a similar problem and same setup as lusql (but with Dynamics v6.5). My slow login occurs after the the user has selected the company and hit 'OK'. The system appears to just hang as soon as the user clicks ok. The login window says "Attempting to Login into a company"

after 2mintues the user is logged in.
This problem started a week ago, before then it was ok. Nothing has been changed on our network since then??

Any ideas what the issue may be.

I've found that removing the splash screen (BMP) file in the client directory can make a big difference in remote session, as they don't have to render the graphic. Our Citrix users find it speeds up the launch bu 15-30 seconds.

Just a thought.
