I have seen this question before, but didn't need the answer till now. I have searched FAQ and Keyword Search, without success, so here's the question;

I have an application in Access2000 in which several forms take a long time (about 30sec) to load, after that they load quickly (presumably they are in cache). I have compiled the VBA code and compacted the mdb, it does not make any difference.

Any help greatly appreciated.

This is kind of cheap help, but the newsgroups have a bunch of (semi-unhelpful) threads on slow form loads:

One suggestion I liked that actually looked helpful is to keep your forms open even when they are "closed". Thus when they are re-opened, the time penalty is eliminated. You can even open all troublesome forms on startup (hidden) and "open" them quickly after the initial startup delay.

Most of the other threads said "design your databases better". One amusing thread said to upgrade to a whopping 12MBs of RAM, if you can justify the cost. This is the thread where he suggested you "hide" the forms instead of closing them:

I'm having far too much fun with this. --
