Slow Exchange Backups

Running ArcServe 11.1 on a Windows 2003 server. This server is remotely backing up an Exchange server on a Gig network. When backing up anything else through this machine the average transfer rate shows about 300MB/minute. However, when I try and backup the Exchange 2003 server the transfer rate drops to anywhere from 50 - 80MB/minute. Has anyone else ran into this? Is there anything I can do to speed this up?

I am not doing brick level backups.
Both servers are in the same Gig network...same switch even.
Mcafee Virusscan is running on the server.

HI,

Have you tested the exchange backups with NTBACKUP? If not ,run it and compare the speeds. Also, if you have the anti virus background scanning disabled, it migh slow down the backups a bit.
