Slow down PIII/PIV

Hello.

I have same old DOS application, which I have to run in WIN XP. But it doesn't run properly on new PIII or PIV machine. How can I slow down my pc?

Which application? What kind of problem? Any error messages?

Old DOS application, which reindex Paradox database.
It is no error and it runs, but it does nothing when I run it on local database. When I run on the network it works.
