Anyone out there had experienced slow Domino backup with the use of BrightStor ARCserve Backup (r11.1) Domino agent?

I notice that backing-up the entire server without the use of Domino agent is very much faster, while it slows tremendously when the Domino agent is activated.

Does any one know of ways to make the backup run faster while using the Domino agent?

When using any database agent it is unlikely to be the same speed as a flat file backup. It is just the nature of using an agent. The ARCserve Notes agent uses the Notes API to request/return the data (or the version your using does anyway). So that's probably where the bottleneck is, but I don't believe it is tunable as something like SQL where you can set number of stripes, threads etc.

Hi vschumpy, thanks for responding.

Any idea how best to guage the 'reasonableness' of the backup speed with the use of the ARCserve Domino agent?

Many thanks!

For a DB level backup like the notes agent I would say around 60-70% of the speed you are getting for a flat-file backup is not unreasonable - but this will depend on your environment/architecture too.
