I'm running Server 2000 SBS and since converting over to a static IP address (public side), and running the ADSL line through the server on a second NIC the connectivity speed to the internet has dropped dramatically, I did anticipate a small drop but not this much. Previous to this the ADSL router was patched directly into the switch - but this was not the recommended way!?!

Is there any fine tuning that can be done on the server to try and speed it up - as far as I know it has all the standard "out of the box" settings.

Thanks in advance

Check your DNS settings on your second nic. If your not sure what DNS settings to give it. Set it back to dhcp and run ipconfig and see what settings the DNS picked up and use them for your static.
Does your router provide you with any sort of firewall? If not, then thats why its not good to connect it to a switch. you will expose your entire network to the internet. (not good) I would even purchase a cheap linksys router and install that between your router and w2k server.
You can try this but I have not noticed a big difference. Right click on my computer and go to properties then the advanced tab and performance settings. set this to application since its a sbs server. It might help a little.
