All,

I am copying this post to W2K Server, and MS Office forums too.
Recently we had some problems. One of our Vectra machines, which is less than 6 months old, was experiencing slow saves to the network. Others had similar problems. We did some major maintenance to the entwork, and suddenly everything is working as it should... except for the one machine!
We have tried using different ports, net cables, new NICs (three), reinstalling software from Ghost, and then for scratch. We have updated BIOS, and drivers for everything attached to the machine.
It is running XP, Office 97, and Excel 2002, SQL ENt Man, and some other things that others also have. Even on base system with only XP and Office, this still doesn't work properly... Can anyone help?

We also have an all W2K or above network.

sounds like you hit everything except the cabling... move the problem computer to another station and test it there. if it works well - call the wiring folks.

Sadly, though I may have missed mentioning it, we have done this too. We have linked it up to a socket across the room where the normally attached PC works fine, plus, we have taken it and plugged it straight into the hub... still same problem.

Any other ideas?

if it works alone it works fine or only when it works connected to the net!?
have you tryed the network board?! put one that is working in anouther computer in that, and that bord in anouther pc...
this is just an idea.. :)

Good idea, but also tried. We have done everything including updating bios (integrated NIC), adding known working NIC, differing ports, etc... but just nothing helps. Every other computer we have is fine. We may need to send back the machine for replacement... :(
