Slow backup speed on clients that are virtualized

Hello,

We are running version 5.1 MP 5 of NetBackup, to be version 6.5 by year end.

We have several clients running Windows 2003 that have been virtualized. Some of these are running way to slow for backups. Speeds are under 1 MB /second.

I saw post thread776-1427082 but did not see if there was a resolution. Has anyone else run into this?

Thanks,
PD

How are you backing the VMs up? Using VCB or clients installed in each VM and doing LAN backups? Where is the storage and where's the backup device? Is anything else going on during the backup window that would stress the I/O? Are you trying to do the VM backups in parallel with each other?

We are backing up client installed on each vm as lan backups. Storage for VM's is on EMC disk and the backup device is located in the same physical data center, but on a seperate SAN (one for storage, one for backup). There are multiple servers in the policies, so, yes, it could be that multiple servers are attempting to be backed up. For the specific policy, only one or two out of seven servers fail. They are all client on VM server.

Thanks,
Paul
