slow auto loader

Hi All:

happy new year and wish all your wishes come true,

got a question

we have purchased a Dell Powervault 725N applience and a 122T auto loader (DLT-4), the autoloader is connected via a SCSI card externally onto another Dell server

when the autoloader try to backup either the server it attaches to or the NAV applience, it does in a painfully slow fashion, 2 GB of data would take about 3-5 hours where as the internal DLT-4 drive would only take less than an hour, we are using backup exce v8.6,

does anybody have idea on how to improve this ?
