Is there any way to configure Networker 7.1 to use the next blank tape in a pool without appending to the last used tape? The goal I am shooting for is to have a pool of about 10 tapes in my library, I want the Full backup to run on Friday. This will take about 5 tapes. Then I want my first incremental backup to start on the next blank tape in the pool. The following nights incrementals can be appended to the previous incremental. Essentially, I want my Full backups segregated from my incrementals, but all of them in the same pool.

Thanks, D_

As chapter11 said, NW is supposed to work differently - you should do this using a full and an incremental pool. This ha several advantages.

However, if you just want to prevent further writes to a specific tape, you can also change its status to readonly.

there's that, remember to set a volume to readonly you have to unmount it.
