Hi,
I'm using ARCserve 11 on WIn 2k3. I have 40/80 gb tapes and since a few weeks ago, when the back reaches 35gb, it asks for a new tape, then this size decreases over time, next day, when it reaches 32gb, it asks for a new tape and so on.
Any idea why it happens??
Thanks,
NF

But the tape is 40/80 gb, so up to 40gb there shouldn't be any compressing anyways.

or the media is damaged - you should see errors in the activity log indicating this, if this is the case.

also - 40/80 tapes will only get 40Gb native if they are using in a DLT 8000. If they are used with, or have previously been used with a DLT7000 then the native capacity will be 35Gb.

I don't get any error, tapes were taking over 45gb since I started(6 months ago).
There is no error message and I never used them in any other drive( it's an internal drive).
Tapes are being formatted every time regardless of what's on them.

Perhaps it would help if you told us the type of tape of drive.

Drive is Internal Dell PV-110T-DLT-vs80 .. tapes are DLT IV 40/80 gb.

check the database media view and look for Soft Write Errors.
