Hey all.
im trying to send through the SMTP server to exchange user on the same server, a 3MB message.
after sending it, it writes 522 4.3.1 size exceeded.
however, i checked all the properties in all ESM, i found out the limit is much more~!

how else can i check it
thanks!

The size limit can be set in a number of places. In addition to the size settings in/on Global Settings, Virtual Servers, and Connectors in ESM, user objects can have restrictions set on the Exchange General Tab, using the Delivery Restrictions button. The lowest value of the ones mentioned previously will be the effective one.

Did you check the 2 involved users in AD Users and Computers?

yes i have.
the user i used was really in AD 1mb restriction.
but i already removed it to be defualt.
and still wont help.
do i need to restart services???

I am having a problem with large attachments as well.

They are being returned with a NDR.
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

The message was not delivered because it is larger than the current system limit. Create a shorter message body or remove attachments and try sending it again.
<mail.school.schools.sunderland.gov.uk #5.2.3>

I have checked for message limits in
Global settings
Virtual SMTP Server
Connectors/Content restrictions
AD user accounts

None are set.

I know that it is not a restriction of out ISP as I can send the same message directly using Outlook.

There are no problems with internal email

Message tracking ends with

SMTP: Started outbound transfer of message
SMTP: Non-Delivered report (NDR) Generated.

Am I missing something? This is driving me round the bend...

The following line tells you which server generated the message:

<mail.school.schools.sunderland.gov.uk #5.2.3>

If that's not one of your mail servers, then it is a restriction on the recipient's server.

Just started trying to resolve this problem again. Any ideas?

It is our server that is generating the NDR, it is not "leaving the building".

We can send large attachments internally.

I have rechecked the SMTP connector and Virtual SMTP server settings and there are definately no restrictions set.

HELP!

Try your firewall.
I have a watchguard firewall and it was set to reject all messages greater than 5 MB.

It was driving me crazy, I set exchange to like 50 MB, and was not receiving a thing, I went into the firewall, changed the setting then everythng was fine.
