Hi guys, once again I need all of yours expert advice on a site i'm working on: Keep in mind the registeration, view/rank models functions do not work at the moment...
Any ideas, comments it much appreciated...please check in IE5+ and NS4+ browsers...
Thanks...[smile] I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

I like the blue you used. looks great in IE5. the registration page one word trems of agreement -->terms

good job GUJUm0deL! I may not get it the 1st or 2nd time,
but how sweet that 15th time can be.

LOL, thanks for the catching the spelling error...
Have any suggetsions?? I wanna make a background image like a ghost-like, i've seen some sites use that, know of a way I can make that effect?? I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

Any other comments/suggestions?? I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

Hiya,

Nice and clean, but a few minor kinks and a few personal preferences I'm going to suggest. The personal pref's 1st, hey they're really minor picky things!!....

On the main page, your menu sits between two hr graphics. The drop tails of the letters g hit the lower hr and give an uncomfortable feel in IE and really bad in Opera. Can you separate say by half an em, or just insert a 1,2 or 3 pixel line in the same bg color between the menu and lower hr.

There's no space between your copyright symbol and the 2002.
Because the copyright symbol isn't on the same vertical centreline it looks a little off. Maybe try a space in there.

Now the technical bits. You say the venu is 'A Hotel' Visitors might like to know where this is, if you are drawing entrants from all states.

FAQ1 - change your ready to YOU'RE ready

FAQ2 - Change its that easy to IT'S that easy

FAQ4 - Correct spelling of IMMEDIATELY.

In NS6.2/Mozilla 1.0, your text boxes are the same color as your bg, not white. Same as the login form on 1st page.

Hope this helps, and hope you'll let us know when the pics are up too!

Best wishes,

Graham

Hey Guj,

Something weird ....

The Input text boxes in IE6 are sometimes white, sometimes not. Maybe look at your color=#000000 nesting, because the background-color value wins the fight more often than not.

I get the states box quite often white, more often than the others, but sometimes blue.

This looks OK in opera all the time, always get white text boxes!

Gotta read the kids their bedtime stories now - sun just set here in UK. Bye for now

Graham

maharg, did your kids like the bedtime story?? [smile]...
Umm, about the textbox being the same color as the bg color, I know, I used CSS style to make the textboxes that color, I thought the white textboxes were soooo boring...the CSS style textboxes only appear blue-ish in IE5+ and NS6+ (not sure about Opera and other browsers)...what filed came up white?? I made all textboxes, textareas, etc. the blue-ish color...
I will see about the <hr> tag and the menu, if I cannot make that effect that you suggested then I will take away the underline for the links, and make the links just change color...and I will fix the issue with copyright...
About the &quot;hotel&quot; I have to wait till the client gives me more info. on that (it's soooo hard trying to get the information from the client without having so many words...and when the site doesn't get done because of that, the clients have a hissy-fit, lol)...
Any other ideas??

PS -- I will def. post again when the site is fully operational and when the models start putting thier pics...[smile]

Hey there,

I didnt have time to read the other postings so I apologise if i repeat already submitted comments.

Here's a few thoughts anyway::

1. When I first see the page there's nothing that really stands out. I'd prefer to see something highlighted, perhaps the first line &quot; For the first time ever, SAREGAMA Entertainment presents the MISS BOLLYWOOD USA BEAUTY PAGEANT via the Internet.&quot; perhaps bigger and in a brighter colour.

2. Have you considered putting something opposite the main logo, just to fill that spave a little? Nice logo btw.

3. The login box, personally I never liked a &quot;see through&quot; login box. The entire boc is same colour as page background. How about giving the table a different bgcolour and also give the text boxes another bgcolour??

4. The link to &quot;main page&quot; on the &quot;main page&quot; is a bit decieving. I'd remove the link or even the text altogether.

5. I can barely read the &quot;Welcome today is...&quot; Perhaps a little bigger?

6. under the login box maybe add a site search box?? just a thought.

Hope that helps, sorry if overly critical, just in a rush today!
Nice job though, i like em nice and neat like that!

cian, thanks for the comments, and be as critical as you'd like, that is what I am looking for...
About your suggestions/comments:

1) I will make the first word or line bigger to see what they look like, do you know if I can use CSS to make the first word or the first few words bigger then the rest??

2) I have reserved that space for the company banner...I have to wait for the comapny to make it to the table specifications...

3) I will see how else I can make it &quot;visually pleasing&quot;...but I like the effect of the textboxes being a diff. color (pref. the same color as the background, otherwise the two diff. colors might clash or have wierd effect, know what I mean??)...besides this way its much better then sticking to the boring old white textboxes...

4) I can see your point of having the link to the main page on the main page, a little redundant...hmmmm...

5) If I make the date script a little bigger it adds a lot of empty spcaes that forces the rest of the page further down...maybe if I move the date to another position??

6) Site search...wow, never though of that...good idea...like that one...[smile]

Any other suggestions (and be as critical as you'd like), is appreciated... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

Hi again,

The 'STATES' box has occasionally overridden and come out white in IE6. Your 'TREMS' box comes out white always. In opera, all input boxes are always white.

As to the lack of spacing between menu items and lower horizontal line, why not just make a thin graphic .gif line in the same color as the background and put it just before the bottom line. that should do the trick and only be around 1/4Kb in size.

Storytimes are always a blast, we do homemade stories which evolve according to the kids' input (boy4 and girl7).

Cheers,

Graham

Will play with the graphic and see what the result looks like...
Thats strange that the STATES select choices sometime appears white and sometimes not...anyone else have that problem?? Does that happen in what IE browser?? How does the site look in NS browsers??

Wow, storytime sounds like fun, lemme guess your son wants dragons, and robots and your daughter wants romance and princes right?? LOL, at least thats what some of the kids here want for the stories... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

Hi again. I was using IE6. This only happens occasionally, i'll try and catch the actual event which triggers it for you.

NS & Mozilla OK, all blue, except 'TREMS' which is white.

Storytime. mmm ... you know Spike Milligan, Monty Python ..?
That kinda stuff - poor kids! If it is completely bananas we do it. Gets their little imaginations going.

Bye,

Graham

Hiya, I know why the &quot;TERM&quot; box appears white, I forgot to add the CSS tags for that one...lol...I will do that in the next update...
Yeah I know of Monty Python, I think hes hystercal... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

Just a quick comment, i'll take another proper look later,

&quot;do you know if I can use CSS to make the first word or the first few words bigger then the rest??&quot;

Easiest way, just stick the works in a SPAN. I'd nearly make that whole sentence a heading or even add a new heading, just something to catch the visitors attention.

3. the text boxes, yeah kow what you mean. Well with CSS you can play around with them to see what looks best, maybe try a 1px coloured border on the boxes? Lots of options there, but I do think it needs something to separate it visually from the rest of the page.

later...
