IS-IT--Management
I have an ISA Server 2000 running as the proxy server for all Internet access in the company and is running into trouble trying to deny access to certain websites based on specific user groups.
Group A (students) are blocked from accessing certain sites, for example email such as Yahoo! or Google during class periods.
Group B (staff) requires access without restrictions to such sites should they need it.
I created a rule that denies access to a list of destination addresses (including the email sites up there) and applied to all student AD groups.
Result : Failed.
This had been bugging me as they shouldn't be allowed to since the rule specified that they can't access those sites.
However, once set to 'Any request' or by client address set, the request is denied and the page is redirected to a custom access denied page.
I spoke with a counterpart at the HQ who also used ISA 2000 for their university and they had the same problem trying to make the rule accept or deny based on user groups.
I wonder if this is a problem with ISA Server 2000. Been scouring the net for a bit and found only the same question but no answers.
The HTTP Redirector Filter was set to reject SecureNAT and Firewall requests.
The only rules in Site and Content Rules are the default 'Allow' and custom 'Blocked' rule as per the above.
Please assist.
Thanks.
