Config is IP500 V2 R8.1 with SIP trunks via a Metaswitch 7.3

First time working with SIP trunks. I know that it is very different from PRI that I am familiar with.

Found the Doc (via a Tek-Tips search on the knowledgebase specifically for connecting IPO to Metaswitch 7.3
I followed the docs and have inbound and outbound calls working ok including incoming call routing which I have a question about, but may get to that in a later post.

The most immediate concern is that the outside party does not hear ringing even though the destination on the IPO side is ringing.

The vendor on the Metaswitch side is telling me that it's the IPO that is suppose to provide the ringback but I have no idea where to look to "turn it on".
Outgoing calls from the IPO ring just fine.

Thanks in advance!

Bump. Anybody have any ideas?

I saw a thread from a few years ago that suggested changing the codec and checking the DTMF Support setting.
I played with both of those and it either broke the trunk where we couldn't make successful calls or made no difference at all.

In that same thread there was also a suggestion that was never confirmed that the IPO was not able to produce its own Ringback tone and that the Provider may need to do it. Does anyone know if this is true?

Thanks

Play with the "refer" option.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Reporting back with a resolution.

There was a setting in the MetaSwitch to provide the ringback to the caller instead of the IPO providing it.

So the Metaswitch provider was completely wrong, as that's not how SIP works at all :)

Yeah, apparently the tech we spoke with first wasn't as familiar with it as we believed.
When we spoke to another tech on the Meta, she knew exactly what to change.
She had it changed within 20 seconds and we tested successfully after that.
