Curious how some of you set this up? I am using a SIP provider that uses registration and will accept traffic from any IP. I think my issue is the IP address the IPO is sending in the header is the IP of the primary connection. does anyone have a setup that is working and can you share what you have done/ Thanks.

I'm not sure what you are asking. We have two different SIP providers. Our IPO has two different SIP trunks. One trunk for each provider. ARS handles the outbound failover. Inbound is done by the provider.

The SIP provider may accept traffic from any IP, but it will need this IP to be used during registration, it then allows traffic from that IP as it is the registered IP. When you move the connection it is using it needs to register on the new connection to "authorise" the new public IP address to be used. I do not know of a single SIP provider that will just take requests from any IP address regardless.

If you want to use multiple internet connections I would also recommend using SIP transformations on your firewall to translate the local IP address to the public one on outgoing packets, this way it should pick the IP address of the correct public interface.

Saying all that though, it doesnt sound like a sensible way of trying to do it to me.

I'm not clear on why its not sensible. Is it because of the provider not accepting from any IP. Ours is registration based and will accept from any. Do you still see an issue?

If they accept from any address they should have a SBC capable of accepting your internal address, that's what we do and we can flip between connections at will without SIP issues, we also register every minute :)
