We have a bunch of Cisco 7960 and 7940 phones that we would like to reuse when we take our Nortel Meridians to CS1000E.

We have been told that the Cisco phones can be SIP enabled to allow this, but does anyone know what releases of the above Cisco phones supports this?

Doubt it. Even if they are SIP enabled/compliant, I believe there are only a couple SIP terminals that are "certified for use" with Nortel gear. That may have changed in 4.5.

My gut feeling is the Cisco phones will probably only work with a Call Manager - doubt Cisco wants their phones hanging off another PBX. Gotta love proprietary stuff (and yes, Nortel is just as guilty).
