Hi all,

Simple question - I know it is possible to connect an Asterisk to a S8700 via a H323 trunk, but would it then be possible to have these agents login.

I have a client who has gone out and bought quite a few Polycom SoundPoint SIP phones and they wish to use these as their agent phones. We currently do not have a SIP server, but are looking into the possibility of running an Asterisk (or similar) in the middle to have these register to.

Is this possible or do I have to go down the SES path?

Regards

You have no choice then to go the SES route as SIP phones cannot register to the S8xxx servers. You will need a SES home/edge server with a SIP trunk between the Avaya S8xxx and the SES server
