I have an IP Office 6.1(22). We have SIP for all incoming calls. I only get the CLID telephone number followed by "EXTERNAL" for all incoming external calls. How can I get the CLID to show the name of the caller as well. I will check with the provider to make sure that we are being sent the number and name. However, I was just wondering if there are any features on the IP Office that I should configure to display the name as well as the number for the CLID. I have a looked at all features and did some searches on this site, but could not find anything that mentions the CLID name on a SIP line.

Thanks in advance :)

I placed this post late last night, so I am bumping it this once...

It all depends on what information is present in the SIP header. if its missing or in the wrong place, the IPO wont be able to relay that as caller information.

I suspect its your provider.

set up a URI that looks like

* / * / * /

then in your ICR, route calls as you would like any other number

if the number isnt showing, its a provider issue.

You should be able to see the header information in a SIP filtered monitor trace.

Thanks hairlessupportmonkey, I had already done this and there is a CLID number coming through. However, there is no name as well, on the number. I called my provider and they say that they don't control what is sent with incoming calls, this is up to the callers provider. However, I don't buy this as when I had a PRI the names were coming through. However, after we switched to SIP it is not.

on the log I see the Call-ID: and it is a Call-ID: eba0e0e2e7854940f4e56c21c79c7d54@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (I replaced my SIP WAN IP with x's for obvious reasons). So the caller ID is this alphanumeric number. Not sure if the name is encoded in the alphanumeric number and if I need to do something on the IP Office side to decode the name as well as the number that is coming through.

OK this could be a software version for the IPO. There have been thread a while back pertaining to scrambled CLI on incoming SIP calls...

Thanks. I will be upgrading to 8.x soon. Let's see if this does the trick.

Initially I had contacted the provider regarding the CLID and they stated that everything was good from their end and that we should have been receiving the CLID name. After creating a monitor trace and viewing exactly what we were receiving and noticed that the name was not included, I decided to call the provider again and asked for a higher level support person. I was then informed that we needed to pay for this service :-/

Always helps to call back and talk to another person, when you don't feel your getting the correct answer.

Thanks again hairlessupportmonkey :)

Directory matching on incoming SIP calls is only supported on 8.1 (might be 8.0 also but I have no customer on that), so any system lower than that will not match the directory and thus just display the number.

Might have misread the above - probably because I don't think CLID names are used in the UK.

The CLID names where the cause that after 4.0 there was no more directory matching.
This has been put back in 8.0 so you are right but on the wrong part :)
