Network map:

PDC BDC nt4 running wins, dhcp and TCP protocol
SQL2000 win2k TCP protocol
10 win2k clients TCP protocol
4 winXp clients TCP protocol
25 Win9x clients TCP protocol

One of the win95 clients cannot see the win2k server through network neighborhood or map drives to it. It can ping the win2k server via ip address. Computer find fails. It can see nt4 srvrs and map drives.

Any ideas.

Have you tried to map the drive via UNC, \\servername(or IP address)\share... Thanks,

Matt Wray

What's the name of the server? Some of the older systems can't see things named to long. First started making all my printers tcp/ip printers, some of the 98 machines couldn't see them, shortened the name. Glen A. Johnson

I tried the unc and that didn't work...

The client can see other like named servers

i.e. johnsonsrvr001 can see, map drives and ping
johnsonsrvr002 can see, map drives and ping
johnsonsrvr003 can't see, can't map but is able to ping

Thanks for the suggestions keep them coming...

Check for funky hosts and lmhosts files. I don't know if w95 supports ipconfig or route print, but I'd try it. (Personally, lose the os, upgrade, don't waste your time.) Glen A. Johnson

Glen-

If I had my way we would be on win 2K. Others that make the money decisions feel differently.

Nuff said.

Thanks.
