When using Microsoft word how do I automatically print the document file name and location eg. C:\Michael\Downloads\Word2 at the bottom of the sheet.
P.S I want it to do it automatically as opposed to inserting a footer each time I print a document.

Thanks

xyorkie, You can update your master template (Normal.dot) to always display the footer. That way each time you start Word the file location will appear.

Open Word, add the footer to the document. Then Save As, choose Document Template in the Save As Type option and choose Normal.dot (this is located in the default directory for office, yes overwrite the file).

Only problem is this is the default behavior for all documents until you change the Normal.dot file.

Craig,

Thanks for your prompt response. Everyone now happy.

Or if you just want the file path to appear only on certain documents, go to Insert>Autotext>Header/Footer>Filename and path and the info will be inserted wherever in your document your cursor is located (not necessarily in the header/footer - as in the path you have to follow to get there).

I also need the path in most of my docs (as a footer), but not all, so I found it easier to add a custom button to the toolbar that performs the macro. If I need the footer in this doc, I click the button, otherwise I don't. Not fully automatic, since I have to do it, but it works for me. :)
