I've just installed Oracle 8i Personal Edition on my machine, and then put Designer 6i on as well. All seems to be going fine, but I can't seem to invoke the wizard to create a new workarea.

I'm logged in as the repository owner, and I've granted all priviledges as required, except on the help for the rqd priviledges in the Repos Object Navigator, it tells me that I need to grant 'SELECT ANY SYNONYM' as a priviledge. However, I can't run this through SQLPlus or DBA Studio; it doesn't seem to exist.

I've read another FAQ on the site that tells me it might not be a problem with the priviledges - what else might I be looking for that would prevent the user with repository owner access from creating a new workarea?

I know this is a pretty elementary Q, so I hope someone can help!

Cheers
Tim

By the sound of it, I'd try to grant a 'CREATE ANY SYNONYM' (perhaps you need to create some specific synonyms for your new workarea?)

it will work fine..
Hope this helps you..
