Mmkay, this is probably really easy for other people to accomplish but I just cannot seem to do this.

So I have a webpage with a black background. And I created a lay-out table to hold all of my stuff that has a white background. Now, some of my page content only has a little information, so when I preview it in my browser I see my content in my white box, and then the black background. The problem is that I want the white box to run down to the bottom of the persons screen, whether or not there is any content in it or not? I've tried dragging the lay-out table longer so that it covers more, but that just causes the webpage to scroll. I just want it to stop completely right at the white, instead of showing the white then the black right underneath...Does anyone get what I mean?

Sooo we have

-layout--
| WHITE | BLACK BG
| WHITE | BLACK BG
-layout--
| BLACK BG Black BG
| BLACK BG Black BG
BTM OF SCREEN

Get it? Instead I want it to be....

---------
| WHITE | BLACK BG
| WHITE | BLACK BG
---------
| WHITE BLACK BG
| WHITE BLACK BG
BTM OF SCREEN

I hope this makes sense. Can anyone out there help!

Have you tried setting your table height to 100%?

Really, this is a hard one to acheive, I find it easier in CSS than with tables, I often compromise, and set the table to a height that will suit the most common size of browser resolution, so for a 800x600 your actual screen size is 760x420, and you want margins of 10px so you set your table height to 400.
Hope that goes someway towards helping, I'd be keen to know if anyone has the magical answer to this one (that is cross browser compatable too!).

Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..

awesome!!! that worked hehe. it was so simple, i just said height=100%

mmkay, not an html guru, just good at photoshop and trying to learn how to turn my photoshop designs into living breathing webdesigns.

About cross browser compatability, will there be any issues? I'm using internet explorer, and it worked there, will my page be weird on macs etc...?
