signature failure error

By this, I assume you mean a backup image file. One disk imaging program I know that gives you an option to rebuild disk structure and restore file signatures is PQDiskImage 7.
For proprietory programs like HP, DELL, I believe their image is customize for the workstation specific hardware settings, any change in hardware, the image will detect upon restoration. Have you change anything on your PC prior to the restoration?
