sIFR, .eot & .pfr

Can any one advise on the best way to use bespoke fonts and point me in the direction of where i can convert the font i want to use.

All the links on the web seem to be to companies and software no longer available and i'm yet to find an explination and implementation of sIFR that i can understand.

is this sIFR a flayplayer pluging or do i need flash to make the font first ?

all help appreciated
