Shutdown/Restart through a Remote Desktop? 1

Hi,
I'm wondering if there is a way to add the Shutdown & Restart options back into the Start menu when you're logged on through Remote Desktop? The only options available are Disconnect or Logoff.

Once you understand the Shutdown command it is easy enough to make a Shortcut and insert the Reboot or Shutdown parameters into it and place it on the Desktop. You also have access to the Remote's Start Run box where you can type Shutdown /s or Shutdown /r.

Thanks, I already know about the shutdown command, but that's not very convenient.
I'm looking for a way to click Start->Shutdown.
There's got to be some kind of registry hack to enable it...

None that I'm aware of. Just create a text file that you leave on the desktop of the remote machine with the shutdown command listed. Then you can easily copy/paste that command into your Start->Run as needed.

Well if I'm gonna go down that road, I might as well just create batch files on the desktop for shutdown/restart.

Why did Microsoft remove those options from the Remote Desktop Start menu anyways? At the very least they could have added a Local Policy option to add it back, kind of like the "Allow System to be Shutdown Remotely"... :-(

Have you played around with the Policies in "User Rights Assignments"?

"The Shutdown command is not available on the Start menu to shut down, restart, or place a remote computer in a sleep state (for example, standby or hibernation) when you are using Remote Desktop. To shut down a remote computer when you are using Remote Desktop, press CTRL+ALT+END, and then click Shutdown. Or, use the shutdown command at a command prompt. For additional information about the shutdown command, type shutdown /? at a command prompt".

I've never heard of Ctrl+Alt+End before. I'll have to give that a try, but I'd still rather have the options in the Start menu. Maybe I'll have a look in the registry and see if anything catches my eye...
Otherwise, I'll just add the batch files to the desktop.
