Shut down problem

I have an intermittent problem when I shut down ME from the Start icon.

I select 'Shut Down'. The screen goes blank BUT the lights on my HP Internet keyboard stay on as does the green light behind the on/off button on the system unit.

The only way then to shut down, is to hold down the on/off button for about 5 secs after which all lights go off. The only problem is that when I next switch on the computer it detects an improper shut down and then goes all through the scan disc routine before I can get back to the desktop.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this and solutions would be much appreciated.

Try this link it might help you troubleshoot the problem. A bad shutdown on ME can be alot of things.
