I need to make a VB 6 program to show some Access reports so that I don't need Access. This is because we want to give away information in a CD with the same format used in Access, but most of the clients don't use, nor have Access in their computers. So, my boss thinks I should make a VB EXE file that can show the reports. Can this be done? HELP! To boldly code, where no programmer has compiled before!

You can't "can" an Access report like you are able to do with Crystal. If the user has Access on his machine, it's no problem, just create an Access object and refer to the mdb on the CD, and open report. If he doesn't...I think you could use the developers kit (I haven't used it in ages), but it would have to register the runtime Access objects on the user's machine first.

I've never used Crystal reports, but I've heard they can be handled from VB 6. I think we have Crystal Reports around here.... uhmmm, somewhere under the bunch of dusty old CDs. So, can I use the crystal reports and give them the data form a VB6 form and display them in a machine that has no Access or any other database program?

What I need is to make a CD with a program that allows the user to make queries visually within a form. Then press a button and the report must pop up showing the information with the same formatting we made with MS Access data reports.

Thanks for the info man! To boldly code, where no programmer has compiled before!

Anything easer then Crystal reports for this? And cheaper?
I have a similar problem, only I want my users to be able to make up their own reports.

BTW: Data Dynamics, Active Reports are great for your problem with doing Access in VB.
