should I prompte ?

Greatly appreciate if anyone could spare some knowledge.
I have a 2003 DC and a member server about 150 miles way over a DSL connection. There are about 20 users on each site. The one with the AD only doesn't seem to work well mainly because the authentication issues and sometime the pips is slow. Should I prompte and have two DCs? I have exchange on both places. I do not know for sure if I promote, the exchange will still work well.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

You would be best served with two DCs so that users in each location can authenticate locally.

You are however stuck becuase you have exchange on that server. Once you have installed Exchange, the server will not allow you to run DCPROMO to promote or demote a server. You would need to either completely reload the server, uninstall Exchange or add a new server.
