Auto-correct does not seem to work with Captions on my version of Word 2000. Missing feature or missing service pack?

j:

When you say captions, are you selecting a picture and hitting Insert-Caption? Or are you just choosing Insert-Caption as text?

Then...I can see if mine behaves the same way. I've never heard this issue before. Anne Troy

Thanks. I am "selecting a picture and hitting Insert-Caption?"

Yeah...that puts it in a textbox, I think. Certainly not my desired method. But it doesn't work with the other method either.

You're in a dialog box and not inside the document itself.

Do you use that many captions using autotext features? Anne Troy

Don't quite understand what you're asking.

All of my images are captioned with more than just "Figure xx", if that is what you mean. I seem to have a habit of spelling "setup" as "setyp" and "dialog" as "dialob".

If I've missed the boat with my answer, please clarify.

I mean that you're in a dialog box when you type the text of the figure name in a caption.

Obviously, the autocorrect feecher doesn't work when you're in a dialog box like that. Anne Troy

Thanks. I realize what you are saying, now. It's just a dialog box with no smarts. I was just hoping that auto-correct was supposed to work in this situation.

No, but when you're done, a spell check should work. If it doesn't, then it's because you're first selecting the graphic before inserting the caption. Anne Troy

Thanks. I am aware of that one.

At certain points, rather than spell-check a whole document, I will highlight a few paragraphs and just spell check those paragraphs.
