We have been running 3.0i for the last four years or so with no problems. Our work stations are now all running XP with a Win2000 server. I have heard rumors that future versions of Windows will not support DOS based programs like this. I hve been quoted a price of roughly $8000 to upgrade all of our modules to a current version with four users. Then they want to charge us $10,000 for a five year service plan. All this for a program that only cost about $3000 when we got it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are these prices in line with what everyone else paid? Its a lot of money for a small Mom & Pop company.

Get some education on what "service" covers. Typically there is maintenance fees, which cover the changes made to the software which you should get for free under the plan. This is typically required for at least 1 year.

Then there are "service" fees which allows you to get technical support for the software if something goes wrong. Typically this is not a required fee.

a 5 year plan is ridiculous.

The "service" fee would cover updates, upgrades, and techinical support. ACCPAC has a history of comming out with new versions about every 18 months or so. The five years would cover about three upgrades. The updates or "new builds" for one version are not free, but would be covered if we purchased a one year service plan (and maybe one upgrade if we timed it right).

I am just wondering if these prices are in line with what everyone else is paying.

I would love to quote you on a conversion to Macola ES if you are interested please let me know.
