Shortcut Keys - How to stop them

I have a problem in that when Windows Explorer is minimised and I hit the n key then the explorer opens. This is very annoying.

The have tried searching the registry and my profile but as yet without success.

Can anyone suggest how this occured and what the solution may be?

Explorer or Internet Explorer? Same window or a 'copy' (thinking Ctrl+N opens new copy of current IE window - if your Ctrl key is stuck, hitting N would in fact be Ctrl+N).

It was Windows Explorer, and it wasn't opening a copy.

I have checked the Ctrl key and it is not stuck.
